Doctor Quack Quack tulungan mo kami!

Doctor Quack Quack help!
---

Wii what? It has become a different world. The electronic toys, the Internet, and growing paranoia in parents helped make it so.

I don't remember being addicted to electronic games before. Maybe because we never had them in such shiny variety of forms before. And probably because dad and mom wasn't easily convinced on buying these things for us. And I am actually thankful for what they did.

We played a lot back then. We ran, we jumped, we socialized, we fought- get hurt - and become friends again shortly, we sweated a lot, and we learned a lot while having fun. Kids played tumbang preso, mataya-taya, langit-lupa, block-1-2-3, luksong tinik, piko, trumpo, yo-yo, step-no, chinese garter, patintero, and a lot more. There was also teks and holens but since these require some money upfront and can become a childish form of gambling, we were discouraged from playing them.

It is different now what with kids content on staying at home, in a corner of the house, and happily push buttons. At a glance, this is parents' heaven - imagine not having to worry about your child playing outside. And thinking deeper, it seems a bit selfish. Kids are kids. They need to have many friends, they need to sweat, they need to get hurt and become stronger in the process, they need to have happy memories of being a kid.

Looking back, there was family computer then, atari, and stuff. But any kid then will drop everything at the sound of friends shouting outside calling to come out and play.
